Bismuth(III) telluride and its alloys (antimony or selenium) posses excellent semiconductor activity, which is used in thermoelectric industry for cooling and energy generation. It increases the speed of microchips and acts as topological insulators in spintronics.

Moisture sensitive. Keep the container tightly closed. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, nitric acid, bromine, chlorine and fluorine.
