It is implicated in the regulation of fibrogenesis and inflammation. DCN exhibits antimetastatic and antiangiogenic activities by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. It is used as a marker to detect the prognosis of various types of cancers such as breast, bladder, and lung cancer. Mutation in the DCN gene is associated with the development of posterior amorphous corneal dystrophy (PACD). |
