It regulates diverse biological processes and may have an important role in carcinogenesis. Its expression is found to be upregulated in gastric cancer cell lines and primary gastric cancers. YY1 is found to contribute to carcinogenesis in gastric cancer. This DNA-binding protein is found to regulate the activity of the c-fos promoter. YY1 has roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and cell cycle progression. |
