Triacetyl-β-cyclodextrin, a water-insoluble derivative of cyclodextrin typically formed by the substitution of a hydroxyl group of the parent compound with maleic anhydride (−OCOCH₃), has been proposed to act as a sustained release carrier for some pharmaceutical compounds.
