| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | End-binding 1 (EB1) proteins are plus-end-tracking proteins that are specifically localized to growing microtubule plus ends that regulate microtubule and interact with intracellular targets. The plant-specific EB1 subtype functions on the spindle microtubules by accumulating in the prophase nucleus. The microtubule-end-binding protein expressed in Arabidopsis thaliana cells (is called as AtEB1a) is fused with green fluorescent protein (GFP) resulting in labelling of spindle poles. During interphase, AtEB1a-GFP labels the microtubule plus end and also marks the minus end. The microtubule associated protein END BINDING 1b (EB1b) is involved as mutants and dampens root responses to touch and enhances gravitropism. In animals, EB1 proteins have acidic C-terminal tails that might induce an auto-inhibitory conformation. |
