It activates critical signaling pathways involving NF-κB (Nuclear factor κ B) and JNK (c-Jun N-terminal kinase). The activity of EDAR is essential during the development of eccrine sweat glands, hair and teeth. Mutations in EDAR gene result in hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia. |
