| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | PPAR-α (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α) is a receptor transcription factor that inhibits inflammation, by preventing the nuclear factor κB activation. Omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids is known to be the ligand that brings out the anti-inflammatory action of Ppar-α. Ppar-α is involved in epidermal proliferation and differentiation and therefore serves as a skin barrier. PPARα mediates lipid metabolism by inducing fatty acid oxidation and also regulates glucose metabolism. Variation in the gene is observed in schizophrenia. |
