| General description【一般描述】 | Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 15 (TNFSF15) or TNF-like ligand 1A (TL1A) is a 174 amino acid, type II transmembrane protein. The molecular mass of the protein is 13kDa and it belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family. TNFSF15 has a carboxyl terminal which is present on the exterior of the cell surface, a transmembrane domain and a short cytoplasmic tail. The gene encoding it is located on human chromosome 9q32. |

| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 15 (TNFSF15)/TNF-like ligand 1A (TL1A) functions as an angiogenesis inhibitor by inhibiting the endothelial cell proliferation. It may play a role in angiogenesis-based cancer therapy. TNFSF15 activates the transcription factor κ B (NF-κB). It induces the degradation of its inhibitor (IκBα) and also aids the nuclear translocation of the p65 subunit of NF-κ B. c-Jun N-terminal kinase activation is initiated by TNFSF15 and it also inhibits the growth of various human tumor cell lines. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the gene encoding this protein are associated with surgical diverticulitis and susceptibility to ulcerative colitis and Crohn′s disease. |
