VAC14 gene is mapped to human chromosome 16q22.1-q22.2. VAC14 is a scaffold protein and is a component of the PIKfyve protein kinase complex.

Anti-VAC14 (C-terminal) specifically recognizes human, mouse, and rat VAC14.

Anti-VAC14 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in:

• immunoblotting
• immunoprecipitation
• immunofluorescence

VAC14 phosphorylates PtdIns(3)P to generate the housekeeping phospholipid PtdIns(3,5)P₂. It associates with and upregulate PIKfyve phosphoinositide-5-kinase activity. VAC14-PIP5K3- PtdIns(3,5)P₂ pathway is thought to be physiologically linked to insulin activation of glucose transport into the cell. Knockout of the VAC14 gene in mice results in massive neurodegeneration and particularly affected are neurons in the midbrain and of the peripheral sensory system.
VAC14 is a regulator of PIP5K3/PIKfyve, a dual specificity kinase.
Mutation in VAC14 gene leads to the development of retinitis pigmentosa (RP).

Store at –20 ℃. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2–8 ℃ for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots at –20 ℃. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
