Sodium thiosulfate (Na₂S₂O₃) can be obtained from Na₂S₂O₃.10H₂O by heating above 100 ℃. It can be synthesized from sodium sulfate.

Applied in a widely useful, thiosulfate-assisted, synthesis of a variety of diamine-CuCN complexes.

Sodium thiosulfate (Na₂S₂O₃) may be used in the following studies:

• Industrial synthesis of methylene blue.
• Quantitative estimation of elemental iodine by titrimetry.
• Detection of trace levels of cysteine by employing triangular silver nanoplates (TAg-NPs).
