| General description【一般描述】 | A metal ion chelator that crosses the blood brain barrier and acts as a neurotoxic antibiotic. Reported to dissolve senile plaques and reduce amyloid’s ability to clump together, apparently by trapping the Cu2+ and Zn2+ that stud these deposits. Clioquinol treatment has been shown to be beneficial in a mouse model of Alzheimer′s disease. |
