| General description【一般描述】 | Calretinin is a Ca2+-binding protein. It belongs to the EF-hand family. This gene is upregulated in reactive mesothelial cells and in malignant mesothelioma. Recombinant mouse Calretinin protein is expressed from Escherichia coli and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | Calretinin is widely distributed in the brain and might be responsible for neural protection. It regulates calcium signaling in neurons. Absence of calretinin in mice negatively affects long-term potentiation, motor coordination and Purkinje cell activity. |
