The drug mechanism of action is not well characterized. Melarsoprol is still the only effective drug for chemotherapy of second stage of T. b. rhodesiense sleeping sickness. As other arsenic-containing compounds melarsoprol causes cell apoptosis of myeloma and other cancer cell lines. |
