| General description【一般描述】 | 04:0 PC is a water soluble phophatidylcholine analogue. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is a strong bilayer-forming lipid. It the most common phospholipid in mammalian membranes. It is also an important component of the mucosal layer of the colon. The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis. |
| Application【应用】 | 04:0 PC is suitable for use to evaluate its ability to form reverse micelles. It is also suitable for use as a phospholipid substrate to study the substrate specificity of glycerophosphoethanolamine ethanolaminephosphodiesterase (GPE-EP). |
| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | Phosphatidylcholine (PC) functions as a surfactant within the mucus to form a hydrophobic surface to inhibit bacterial penetrance. It is used to treat fat embolism. Phosphatidylcholine lowers the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. |
