| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) activates rapid apoptosis in tumor cells, but not in normal cells. TRAIL-induced apoptosis is achieved through binding to two death-signaling receptors, death receptor 4 and 5 (DR4 and 5). These receptors belong to the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily of transmembrane proteins and contain a cytoplasmic "death domain", which activates the cell′s apoptotic machinery. |
