Indium(III) chloride is used in organic reactions such as Friedel-crafts acylation and Diels-Alder reaction as a Lewis acid catalyst. It is an efficient catalyst for thioacetalization and its chemoselectivity.

Hygroscopic in nature. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.
